Blog Security: Avoid Hackers!

Darren Rowse from Problogger has a great post on Blog Security! After having his blog hacked last week he has taken the initiative to guide fellow bloggers on what easy steps to take to avoid becoming the next hacking victim. He also adds a disclaimer for readers to note that he is not an expert in web security, regardless his tips are useful.

Quick Checklist:

  • Update your Blog Software
  • Track Dead Blogs
  • Back up your Blog
  • Protect your Passwords
  • Quality Hosting companies

Let me add that as far as hosting companies go a Problogger reader did recommend ASmallOrange.com; I haven't used them personally but do feel confident recommending AQHost as my hosting company of choice. Their set-up, customer interaction, service and troubleshooting is unbelievable. I have had nothing but GREAT experiences with them and will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks.

Details on the tips mentioned above are available on Problogger.net, don't forget to check out the comments on the post and feel free to add some yourself.
